Real time Shelf Life...

I do not have much for meats in preps( save beans, but not really the same) Planning on doing some gardening for vegies and have some cans. Have been looking at freeze dried. Has anyone been stocking/using freeze dried meats and vegies?? Looks to be anything from roast beef, grn beef, chicken etc. availible, but does it really work and have a shelf life? Anyone with actual experiance using these?

I've not bothered with anything freeze dried, due to the cost. Yes, I know it's nice & light weight, but for now at least, I'm not trying to get a year's worth of preps to fit into my Chevy Chevette (or whatever).

For long term storable meat, you might consider Spam, Treet & the like. There's also canned tuna.

If you spend about $75 on Amazon, you can get a 23 quart Presto pressure canner, which will enable you to can your own beef/pork/chicken/.... into Mason jars. That's what I've done recently.

Canned chicken in water is good too. About the same price as Spam.

Ahhh, but there's no song for "canned chicken in water". On the other hand, there IS the :shine:glorious:shine: tune "Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam".
